Ely Foodbank consolidates effort to maintain provision of vital help

21st March 2018

Ely Foodbank’s centre in Sutton will close this week in order to consolidate efforts more effectively when providing help for those in need.

Since opening in 2015, volunteers at Ely Foodbank’s centre in Sutton have provided vital emergency food to local people facing hunger. The foodbank is really grateful for all of the support the community has given in this time – donations of food, money, and time have all been key to making sure everybody referred for help received critical support at the point of crisis.

Ely Foodbank has taken the decision to close the centre in Sutton from 23rd March 2018 and pool resources with other nearby foodbank centres to meet the need for emergency food most effectively. Going forwards, Ely Foodbank will ensure emergency food continues to reach people in Sutton at risk of going hungry through the foodbank’s other local centres. A list of these can be found on the foodbank’s website.

There will still be collection points at the Church, Oliver’s Barbers and the Primary School, and current shortages can be found on our website and facebook page.
